How to buy dinosaur gifts safely on eBay

• Read the age label in the photos, not the listing title. The maker’s age grade is what counts.
• Buy new and sealed for kids’ toys, so you get every piece and the original warnings.
• Check the battery door on remote-control and light-up toys. It should need a screwdriver or two separate movements to open.
• Keep magnet sets away from young children. The CPSC warns that swallowed magnets can attract each other inside the body and need surgery.
• For fossils, look for stated authenticity and provenance, and remember this site cannot verify any listing. Mongolian law since 1924 makes dinosaur fossils state property and bans their export, per a 2013 US Attorney’s Office release.
